The glass table, whether satin or tempered, is now a classic in many modern homes: this type of table is in fact able to give a particular light to the environment in which it is inserted, it is light and often adaptable both to modern furnishings and to more classic styles, where it can represent a point of detachment.
Such beauty, however, is combined with the need for careful, frequent and delicate cleaning: in fact, cleaning the glass table may not be our first thought, but it should be done at regular intervals and with special tools and products, so as not to ruin the glass top and to keep it always beautiful and shiny.
Be careful not to think of the glass table as any other table made of a different material: glass needs some special steps and products in order not to get damaged and to be perfectly clean.
Let's see together how to clean the frosted glass table: the first step is to remove any residual dust from the glass top, using a soft cloth (an electrostatic cloth could be an even better choice, because it can attract even the smallest grains). Afterwards we could move on to the actual cleaning.
As far as the "daily" cleaning of the glass table is concerned, we should carry out a cleaning operation every 7-10 days under normal conditions.
After removing dust, we should choose a suitable rag and a glass cleaning product and proceed with circular movements, insisting in particular on stains and avoiding leaving unsightly halos.
What if we have to clean a stained tempered glass table? If we find ourselves struggling with dry stains (it is better to avoid letting the stains dry, eliminating them as quickly as possible) we can try to soften the stain with a little water.
A couple of times a year we can try a more thorough cleaning and sanitation of our crystal table: in this case, after removing dust and possible stains, we will have to pass the table with ammonia and dry it carefully. The result will be surprising.
Another solution is that of steam cleaning: some domestic systems provide a special nozzle for cleaning the glass, which allows to obtain an excellent result in a short time and to remove all traces of dirt from the glass table.
We have said how important it is to choose the right detergent to clean the glass table: degreasers of any kind should always be avoided, while there are several "green" alternatives that can be produced using the products we have at home, effective and economical. For example, lemon juice accompanied by a newspaper sheet can be an effective weapon to remove the most stubborn stains. Or a solution of water and alcohol or water and vinegar can be the tool to make our table shine.
What if we need to figure out how to clean the tempered glass on the phone? Or how to clean a matte crystal vase?
In the first case a slightly dampened microfibre cloth is the best solution (always remember before turning off the phone and disconnecting the battery), while for an opaque vase for the outside the solution of water and lemon is perfect, while for the inside, if deposits have been produced due to the water for the flowers, we can try with a solution of water and bicarbonate of soda: rubbing lightly, always with a microfibre cloth, we should be able to remove the dirt.
One of the most unpleasant surprises we can have after cleaning our crystal table is to find halos on the glass, which we may not have noticed at first but which completely ruin the result, forcing us to start over (or cover the halo in some way).
To avoid the formation of halos the first trick is not to clean the table when it is exposed to sunlight: it is always better to wait for a cloudy day, or close the shutters or lower the blinds. In this case we will have to do without natural light, because the consequence would be to find halos despite the cleaning.
The second suggestion is to always use the right product: we have already seen that the degreaser is absolutely to be avoided, but in case we have to remove grease or food stains, the solution can be dish detergent, to be used in small quantities and with lukewarm water, in order to "degrease" the stain, removed which we can proceed to the normal cleaning.
As far as the protection of the glass table from stains and scratches is concerned, we have seen how important it is to use suitable cleaning products: in fact, a living room table such as the Extendable Alzon Table or the Kone Table are not just simple tables, but objects of great beauty and it is a shame to risk ruining them.
