How to decorate with carpets

How can you decorate your living room or other room in your home with carpets, giving it personality and style? Carpets are a very old piece of furniture, nowadays widespread and present in homes all over the world. The function of a carpet is purely decorative, although today this element is no longer only associated with classic, particularly dated and somewhat gloomy homes. These old beliefs have now been completely dispelled.

A carpet can in fact be a good furnishing solution in a wide variety of domestic and professional contexts. In some environments, the presence of a carpet can really create a remarkable visual effect and in a certain sense represent a real turning point for the design of a room: in this regard, it is enough to think how sometimes a carpet is able to create perspective and dynamism, outlining at length the development of a space.

The arrangement of a carpet is therefore able to enrich and embellish a room: but beware, these elements are not always used with the right criteria and in some cases they tend to overload and boost the impact of certain furnishings in a given environment.

In this article we would like to give you some important hints and tips to help you learn how to furnish your rooms with one or more rugs.

Living room carpet - yes or no?

Many people ask themselves this question: should we have a carpet in the living room or not? In order to give a clear answer to this question, it is first of all important to underline how sometimes people decide to renounce to the presence of a carpet, because of the need of a great maintenance, or because of the presence of children or pets that could ruin it - especially if you think to insert a particularly expensive and refined carpet.

Very often, simple precautions are enough to avoid ruining or dirtying a carpet too much: the mere fact of not stepping on it with your shoes is a good starting point to preserve your furniture for a long time. Another secret to maintaining a carpet for a long time is the classic carpet cleaner, to be used frequently and continuously, followed by proper cleaning with a hoover.

Having said that, in the following paragraphs we will discover the main types of carpets available on the market.

Carpets, the different types: the Persian carpet

Persian carpets are back in vogue after a period in which they had completely fallen out of fashion. Today, these models are back in the homes of Italians: they are carpets with few hairs, made in the vast territory that stretches from the Balkans to Pakistan. A typical feature of these models is their typical patterns and geometries, which are particularly striking in the elongated formats. The striped models are perfect for use in the kitchen. The more classic shapes are more suitable for the living and sleeping areas.

Vinyl carpets

Vinyl carpets are another very common model. Vinyl is a material that is commonly used in industry, but it is also used to make various types of furniture, including carpets. The advantage of vinyl is its ability to be washed easily and to withstand stress. For these reasons, vinyl carpets can also be placed in places where they are frequently used, such as the entrance to a house.

Modular carpets

The special feature of sectional carpets is that two or more elements can be combined to form a graphic design. These carpets often resemble natural shapes or geometric patterns. Modular carpets are made by a famous Portuguese company that has become famous for its creative compositions. With this solution you can arrange two carpets in the same room and avoid choosing a carpet that is too big.

Cut-out carpets

Another recent innovation in interior design is cut-out carpets. These products were developed by the company Skonne, which was founded in 2017. With these products, it is possible to cut out a portion of a design to create your own personalised carpet. The choice of colour, shape and size is at the customer's discretion.
